A question for you FireFox users:

Do the animated Emoticons (clapping, laughing, etc.) no longer animate under FireFox?

E.g., are these eyes rolling?

Didn't know if it was my settings, or an incompatibility with FireFox. (I assumed they're just animated GIFs.)

    Danke!

Jeff, will you STOP rolling your eyes at us, it is a bit rude! ;-) Yes it works on FireFox for me. Don't know if I have any special things set to make it work though.

Thanks, Bruce -- obviously, I've done something funky.

OK, apologies -- they're not rolling under IE, either.

I suspect I've gone too far with ZoneAlarm or something...

I bet in an effort to block "advertising", ZA it stops any images that change.

[In best Jim Backus "Mr. Magoo" voice:]

    Danny! You've done it again!

Went to Privacy/Ad Blocking in new ZoneAlert Security Suite, selected PriusChat from the Site List, switched off animated blocking for PriusChat, and voila!

The little eyes work like a charm!

I switched to DSL two weeks ago; really liked the free ZoneAlarm product, and decided to go the whole distance and buy the Security Suite. THere are some nice additions, but sometimes I think I would have been better off just buying ZoneAlarm Pro and leaving it at that.

Just glad to have a good NAT hardware firewall between me and the 'net.

So... could someone please tell me "to what degree" the brand new animation I just put on my homepage works.

It should transition from image to image with any up-to-date browser. Layers and dynamic images aren't too complicated. But I am uncertain if the fade effect will be visible.

If it works entirely with FireFox, that's another endorsement point for it.

Sure - which image is supposed to be animated?

Sounds like something done with Javascript - which I avoid using. Usually, sites have it just to add loads of irritating fluff in the way of getting at the information I'm after.

The animation is a FADE from blank to each image.

I am a bit baffled by the difference between my home & work browser. The centering only seemed to look right at home, so it's smoother. Hmm.

As for not including javascript anymore, I consider that a non-issue now. If you are using a browser so old that it doesn't support javascript, you've got a ton of security issues to worry about. I also don't believe in absolutes, so minimal use should be acceptable.

I don't know John. With FireFox, I get no fading images. Under IE, they are there but they stomp on the text. I gather they are supposed to be in what I see as white space above.
