    This might not be such a big deal to some, but for me, it's a milestone of the year.

    Yesterday, I refueled after 587 miles on a tank achieving 61.2 MPG. Last year, I logged six tanks above 60MPG and with this earlier start, I'm hoping to get at least eight.

    For details, check the "Current Mileage" link in my signature.

    It's nice getting the higher numbers isn't it. I really fine tuned my technique this winter keeping my mileage in the mid-50s to even low-60s much of the time.

    My current tank is at 330 miles showing 69.9...was as high as 70.1 a day or two ago...well on my way to a record tank if I can avoid some of the mpg killing trips.

    I'm spoiled.

    When I hear a Civic or Prius getting 60-70mpg, the thought is: "what would they have done in my Insight?"

    Probably better than me. {blush}

    Good job!

    I wonder that too, I've never driven an Insight and would like to see what I could do in one on my usual route for a tank or two....just for grins. I don't think I'd ever be interested in owning an Insight as it just wouldn't serve my needs (3 kids, wife, 2 dogs....), but it would be fun to get a few 80+ mpg tanks!

    I hit a milestone as well with my fillup this morning: 71.2 MPG. My first-ever 70+ MPG tank.

    I might have been able to push it to my first 700 mile tank, but with the last pip blinking at 678 miles I figured I'd better not.

    I've driven in a Prius twice and hope to get past the Prius 101 stage the next time around.

    Ballpark, I'd guess 60mpg in a Prius is about 75mpg in a 5-speed Insight - 70mpg Prius = 85mpg Insight. I know of a couple of guys getting 80mpg in their Prius.

    The driving experiences are different. If we were talking computers: a Prius would be a Mac - an Insight would be running raw Unix. When I'm driving an Insight, knowing what the car is doing is easy - my effort is on how to drive. It's the opposite on a Prius - driving is effortless, but I'm still at the stage of figuring out what is the car doing? Not saying one is better - just that the driving is different.

    Since I live 60 miles due south of Tony my last tank that I filled on Sunday was a bit better since it's warmer down south here.

    [attachmentid=7850]

    And I can't let JimboK have all the fun, I'll catch you yet (if the weather warms).

    [attachmentid=7851]

    Danny, I think you've got it backwards, when you picked up your car I told you 64 not 46 MPG when I showed you my MFD.

    Ok guys, is this an annual rite of spring to haze us underclassmen? I can't get above 50/tank yet but my "commute" is 3.1 miles, and I haven't yet installed my EBH.

    What are some of you other Touring owners getting? :mellow:

    And Wayne, when you took my brother to the airport you were supposed to teach him all the tricks and magic that you perform when you drive.

    You're taking me around at HybridFest. You better just got ahead and block out some time.

    For me, forget it on this tank. We've been doing short trips again, and their were snow flakes (small and soggy) hitting the windshield this morning. It did get down to 30F this a.m. We're below 48 mpg right now.

    Dave M.

    P.S. I see this is my post 666. I had a license plate with that number for several years. Also, later on one with 777. Irrelevant, except I still think Wal-Mart's happy face is the mark of the beast.

    I had a 60+ tank a couple back. For some reason I neglected to take a picture. Oh well. I'll have another with this tank, hopefully.

    And slightly off topic, I have deemed it summer. On Wednesday we had a lovely afternoon thunderstorm followed by steaks, sweet corn, and potatoes on the grill. Mmmm.

    Well with some warmer temps and some better driving techniques I've managed to get down to 4.7 L/100km with the last couple of tanks. Which I think works out to about 50 mpg (USA) or 60 mpg (Imperial). I thought that was really good considering, I still suffer from too many trips that are under 15 minutes and there are lot of hills where I drive. Still, I have enjoyed seeing my ICE be off for fairly long stretches of cruising around at normal city speeds. That's quite a thrill.

    I'm at 62.5 on my current tank, last two have been 58s.
