I got in my first accident and I don't know what to make of it. Do you think this is fixable? Or is it totaled?

    The airbags did deploy.

Looks totally fixable from the outside. You shouldn't worry too much. When the car gets taken to the body shop for work, they'll do a full estimate.

    Good luck on the repairs.

It cost $1000 just for the repair of a slight grazing of my back bumper.

I'm guessing the cost will be considerable. But if there isn't hidden damage, it probably isn't going to be totaled. Sometimes you really can't tell from pictures. I've seen vehicles that looked like they salvage yard fodder, and they end up being repaired, and I've seen vehicles that look very, very recoverable be totaled.

My pure guess is that isn't a total the vehicle level of damage, but it will be several thousands of dollars to repair.

This is why we have insurance.

Good Luck, if you have it repaired, start researching the "best" auto body repair shops in your area. You want it done right.

Like Electric Me stated. They will determine the cost. Based on a similar accident with my '07, where the airbags did NOT deplay, the cost was almost $10,000 to repair. Similar age at the time. One thing I did not do and I implore you to do is to make sure you are issued compensation for the loss in value your car will have attached to it when you sell. I am sure someone will chime in along these lines... There is an insurance term for it that you must ask for while this is going on.

Way too low. Nothing is less than $500 these days for the smallest damage so it'll be considerable more than that.

OP, it doesn't look totaled to me, but your insurance adjuster is the one who can tell you for sure.

Airbag deployment is not good, but it doesn't look too bad. At least $10k tho.

Sorry to see! Hope it's your first and last accident! It appears to be fixable, but depends on the damage under the hood. I see some leakage of coolant or something else - hope it's not too bad.

I would assume 5k-10k worth of repairs. Especially air bag deploy. Good luck.

My fender and bumper was a little over $3,000 before they took it apart. They had to do some additional work which included a fuse box and wiring harness. I'm guessing it will be $4-6,000 before it's done. $$$ ring up quick, but I don't think you are totaled.

Most of the time when the airbags deploy it's a total loss.

The bumper itself with all the attachments was $3000 for me. I'm guessing >$10k with that coolant leak. Doesn't look to be totaled though. Just pay the deductible.
