    Hello all!

I just washed our new Prius opt. pack 3 car for the first time ever, with my remote key in my pocket. Every time I hosed off the car anywhere near the door handles, the car would beep at me! Pretty weird. Beep, beep! Like it liked the water,, or,, maybe its like a cat, and it does NOT like getting wet! I thought maybe I should take the "key" out of my pocket, and set it far enough away from the car so it wouldn't be a beeping at me, but I was rushing around trying to keep the sun from spotting it, so i just kept letting it beep away when ever it got tickled with the water!

Any one else experience this? Is this normal? Weird beeping car! Tomorrow it gets is first clay bar & wax job. I wonder if it will purr like a kitten for that?:ROFLMAO:

Love the car so far though!

It shouldn't beep if the car is powered off. Also try leaving the fob inside the car while you wash it.

In cold weather I leave it inside with the power on while I remove snow. It prevents the annoying triple beep every time you open and close a door.

I had crazy thoughts of the water short circuiting the doors when I did the wash. Somewhere in the manual it says it will behave as you described. No worse for the experience.

The water on the door handle finger sensor tricks the car into thinking you are touching the sensor, trying to lock the door.

    And/or trying to UNlock it.
    My C does that too.

Keep the FOB far away from the car........or don't get the door handles too wet.

Heavy rain can "confuse" some of the fancy sensors on modern cars too.
