Well, i DID get my prius last week. then i parked it in my driveway, which goes all the way to the back of the house. Then the work crew doing some minor work at our house came along and plopped a dumpster NEXT TO THE HOUSE, ON THE DRIVEWAY!! So now, my prius sits all alone on the driveway, blocked in by the dumpster!

(don't feel too bad for me, i could have them move it if i really wanted but it's really the best place for the dumpster and i still have my 02 buick... still, frustrating)

Manny wouldn't have anything to do with the dumpster placement would he?

I thought you were going to say that they placed the dumpster on top of the Prius.

See, things could have been worse.

I think the next thing you must do is build a block wall at least 10 feet higher than the roof peak around 3 sides of the car, otherwise the contractors might accidentally throw or drop construction debris on it!!

Be careful! It might be Manny's tactic to be sure you are home when he gets there with his nail puller.

I too thought it had dropped on your car, but that would have been too easy for Manny. He wants to see you suffer by being able to see the car but not move it.

    Brilliant!

you know, i never even thought of that. hmmm

anyway, one thing i gotta remember is to start and run the thing. the dealer warned me that it can drain its own battery from the electronic gadgetry if you don't use it for over a week...

Nah, not in a week unless there's something wrong with the 12v battery already. I've left mine sitting for 10 days on several occasions with no ill effects. 2 weeks would probably be pushing it a little...3 is definately risky, esp. if you don't turn off the SS/SE and such.

This might be a good excuse for you to consider adding a solar trickle charger for these longer times 'at rest'. There's an older thread here where I talk about mine--where it came from, how I hook it up, etc.

Also, I assume you already know, but there is No Risk at all to your Traction Battery unless you're going to leave it sitting for many months.

If you disable your SE/SS system (there's a switch to do so), this should reduce the pull on your battery significantly.

    See this thread for details.

thanks for the battery advice guys. i started it up today and it ran for a couple of minutes so i should be fine. it should be out and about sometime next week when they remove the dumpster.

maybe i will disable the se/ss though, that can't hurt.

the solar trickle charger is an interesting idea. i use a plug-in 'battery conditioner' on my avanti so it's always ready to rock and roll!
