Tesla customers have been waiting ages for the electric sports car, the Roadster, to make its way to market. Today the company’s first production Roadster, what Tesla Chairman Elon Musk called “the first production electric car on the road since God knows when,†was delivered to the auto maker’s headquarters in San Carlos, Calif.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 2004+ Prius are almost all covered at the underbody

Only parts that are uncovered are parts where heat maybe a concern :)

How many are spoken for already? How long before one delivered to a dealer can actually be sold by the dealer instead of just picked up by the next owner on the list?

As of a few months ago they had all been reserved for several months already, and the only way to get one was to pay the deposit and wait a year (probably still a year given their production delays, unless they've had cancellations). Contact Tesla for an update.

Um. The lift is yellow, right?

Those flat panels go under the lift and cover the yellow.

That kinda makes me think that the panel is really only paper or plastic or something designed to mask the undercarriage so it cannot be photographed.

    The yellow is airflow.

Some of the panels are cardboard (the rear one) and others are plastic.

I can see each of the 4 pads holding up the car. The arms of the hoist don't go right across under the car, they have rubber pads on the ends to lift under strong points near the wheels.

The flat grey under body covering is there for smooth air flow, it is harder to have a totally smooth under floor on a Prius because it isn't all electric so it has an exhaust pipe which requires air flow around it.

Yeah at least it's tucked in. Our 02 Camry had a HUGE kink in the exhaust pipe or some apparent reason. Of all way to bend the exhaust pipe, the kink bent DOWN towards the road so it looked like something was hanging when you were travelling behind the Camry.

Yes but that's why I've added Engine and exhaust heat as a concern.

The other way around, look under any gas only cars... you'll see almost no panel at all.

My point is that Prius seems to have as many as possible for an Electric/ICE car.
    ;)

Those might be the Yokahama's tires designed for the Elise. They are supposed to be rated at 180.
