First Year of Data

    I don't know how useful this is, but here are my data for the first year of Prius driving. It is mostly highway, with one steep up hill on my commute.

    Miles driven: 21,249
    MPG by calculation: 48.3
    MPG by the display (weighted average): 49.3

    Average gallons per fillup = 9.172

    Fuel cost: $934.45
    Savings over a car with 34 MPG (my previous ride): $391.54
    (In other words, I would have spent $391.54 more on fuel for the same number of miles driven).

    Maintenance cost: $287.53
    I did all the scheduled maintenances at the dealer, using coupons when ever possible.

    I also had TSB work done, not the gas tank replacement.
