Firware/Software Upgrade from 05 to 06 ?

    Do you know if it is possible to upgrade/replace the firmware/software in an 05 Prius with the 06 version ?

    which software are you referring to?

    the only way to update any 05 Prius software is if it's eligible for the SSC 50P recall, which is an ECU update. you would have gotten a letter by now, it happened months and months ago.

    Not sure which software, but I have read and seen pics that the graphics etc on the MFD are different (better than an 05) and maybe the Nav is also different ?

    I bought the car a few weeks ago, it was used with just over 5k on it, so don't know if the previous owner got the notification (if at all)

    oh, that. no, that'll require major parts replacement, including the MFD. and unfortunately (we looked) the connectors for the 06 MFD are different than for the 05, so we're all out of luck there. :(

    as far as the recall goes, you can call up your local dealer and ask. they can look it up by VIN to see if it was needed and if the fix was done.
