I've had my2006 Prius (Package 3) for about a month.

Yesterday, after parking, I noticed that the dashboard icon of a car with a key in the center was continually flashing after I left the car. I believe that this is the security feature.

I hadn't noticed this before, though it's possible, even likely that it's been doing this all along and I never noticed it.

So, is this normal, or a potential problem.

It's not the first time this question has come up here. This (I mean, suddenly noticing the flashing light after owning the car for some time) is a nice demonstration that people by nature are lousy observers.

    normal.

    It's the immobiliser/alarm light for would-be thieves.

<_< the "Immobilizer" light and system are detailed in my 2004 Owner's Manual, pp 6, 44-45. I'm not sure of the page numbers in more recent manuals.

The page number in the 2010 owner's manual is 108. I'm very glad my search led me to this thread; I was going to ask the same question as the OP.
