    So, 2008 GII.

Original owner and I have never replaced the fob batteries -- the model # 2032 batteries -- Hey, I thought that meant they lasted until 2032......

But, two days ago my Subaru alerted me that my Subaru fob battery needed to be replaced, which made me think of the Prius fobs.

Pulled and replaced them -- much easier than the Subaru replacement.

I was under the impression that somewhere in tech stream I could disable the whole key fob affair so that basically I could just drive the car lock it with the key or not is this true

Take the fob battery out, that should do it.
