V8 hog "Ford Racing 5.0-liter V8 Cammer engine that delivers 400 horsepower and runs on E-85 (85% ethanol) fuel." The mindset at the Detroit auto companies is unwavering in its disdain for fuel economy as Ford thumbs its nose at current trends. What the heck, gas is cheap again and the consumer's 30-second attention span has lost sight of how much it cost less than a year ago. Let's not worry our pretty little heads about global warming even though the last ten years have been almost all of the warmest years on record and polar ice is freezing and polar bears are dying out because of it. The Interceptor is also the latest in a never ending string of butt ugly cars that proves that the American companies can't even designing cars through committee. Yuck.

True to form, Ford is reinventing itself, apparently on the DNA level:
The Interceptor, though, wears the grille in a more striking stacked fashion -- much like the fearsome, flat-faced locomotive-inspired three-bar grille on the F-250 Super Chief concept truck last year.

The three bars of the grille on the Interceptor have a satin finish with polished chrome set between the bold bars for a more sophisticated, jeweled look than the three-bar grille of today. Stacked headlights are also built into the grille assembly.

"What you're seeing is the freshest, newest example of our DNA," Freeman Thomas, director of strategic design at Ford, told the Free Press in an interview Thursday. "You will start to see this waterfall into the production vehicles."

OOoooo. Shiny grill. As impressive as it is radical.

    That's hysterical !!!

Of course, it feeds the muscle stereotype all too well. It's a flashy, powerful vehicle... that's outright stupid when it comes to efficiency.

That large of an engine, without even a non-hybrid fuel-saving feature like cylinder-deactivation is pretty dumb in this new world of oil addiction and global warming. Talking about not even trying. So much for taking a responsible attitude and embracing change. Geez!

400hp out of a 300cid engine? I'm impressed. What's the EPA rating? Where are they going to sell it, Brazil? I haven't seen anyone selling E85 here in the East.

E85 is availible in the DC metro area, hence alot of govt. vehicles use it.

Yeah  Of course, can you imagine what it would cost to fix a headlight, given that it's built in to the grill assembly? 'New headlight, yes sir, that'll be $350.' Considering how fast the lights on American cars burn out, that could be a problem.

Not surprising. There are 0 E85 stations in NJ per http://www.e85refueling.com/locations.php?...39690da9990861f

Here in Cali, there's a whopping 1 publicly accessible E85 station in San Diego per http://www.e85refueling.com/locations.php?state=CACalifornia. If I had a flex fuel vehicle, I'd have to drive 460 miles to reach that station.

http://www.e85fuel.com is the easier URL to remember.

When they don't state up front what the MPG is, you can bet it's pretty lousy. When their only stated claim is that it runs on E85, that's probably the best smiley face they could put on what it'll cost you to run it.

I think this is a concept car, isn't it? I looked, and can't see any reference to MSRP, and several car bloggers said you would see "design elements trickling down into models soon."
