I found these on Ebay and I really like them! Need to know if they would fit my 09? Mostly worried about the offset and tire size.

You might want to flag this post and ask for it to be moved over to : Gen 2 Prius Accessories & Modifications | PriusChat where you may find a proper answer a little bit quicker.

Though not an expert, I'm Pretty sure you are looking for an offset of 45, though there could be a range depending on the tire size and profile desired.

Not sure if this link helps at all, it covers both gen2 and gen3 for the 2009 : Toyota Prius 2009 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs - Wheel-Size.com

    5x100 will work on a Gen 2, but 5x114.3 is for a Prius v

I'm not positive but I think these rims come with 10 lug holes, a set of 5 in each configuration. None of the pics showed without the centercap so not sure.

SFO, not sure what you meant when you said flag it so I reported it with the query "Wrong forum?"

Thanks a lot for that link, but not sure still about fitment, that 42 offset is what concerns me, though don't they make shims to make up for the difference?

Okay, on further study, there is a tiny blurb that states 'It is vital to not deviate too far from the offset of the original wheel', well, I don't consider 3mm to be too much of a difference in offset, or am I just being bullheaded?

Okay, now I love an even better rim, same style as before, same sizes, but gunmetal grey gloss finish!!!!!! My Prius is very close to the same color, I think it would look GREAT!

I have to confess I deal better with owners who bought a Prius for the gas mileage, and are not interested in losing 5 MPG forever.

I'm a very literal man, hints and obfuscation don't work on me very well. Since I deliver pizza for a living, fuel economy is paramount, so going from 31 to 32 MPG to over 45 is a good thing. But it seems you have a problem with my wheel selection, would you care to elaborate?

Many have noted on PriusChat that one may lessen MPG when increasing wheel / tire size and weight.

The PriusChat 'search feature' is currently working, though that isn't always the case.

I might be wrong about this but the way I understood it was if the tire and rim total weight was less it would increase fuel mileage. from what I have found, stock rims are 26+ pounds per, the rims I like, while 1 inch larger, weigh in at only 23.5 pounds, a savings of at least 2.5 pounds per wheel. Can a 1 inch larger tire, while having a slightly smaller aspect ratio, weigh in significantly higher to negate the lower weight of the rim?

My simple non-expert answer would be, yes.

It will also take quite a bit of behind the wheel mileage to regain that $400+ spent on some wheels.

Jeff, are you buying them at Tire Rack? If they sell this brand they should be able to tell you or go on line and see if they handle this brand.
I bought a set of wheels there last month and drove over and picked them up.

Well, drat! I just wanted something to make my car look a bit nicer, not cost me more money. So much for that idea.

There’s that logic creeping in again;).

But it all depends on the owner. I am perfectly happy having the stock rims and hub caps on our 2010:

But they came with the car so cost was included(y).

My 09 is the best car I've ever had, and while I have a few extra dollars to spend, I thought a set of nice rims would be the perfect accessory. I would stay with the 15s but haven't seen any I like.

Even though I appreciate the 16" touring wheels, I would prefer stock 15s and be able to save $$$ on my next set of tires.

And once again the logic creeps in

I would personally spend any extra cash on preventative maintenance such as :
    • Brake and caliper pin inspection and Lubrication
    • Transaxle fluid change
    • Inverter coolant change
    • Inspect the water pump and change if needed
It’ll help keep your new to you Prius in good sorts(y).

    1) This is the biggy. Heavy wheel/tire combos use up more energy than lighter wheel/tire combos.
This is a very exhaustive automotive engineering explanation, every time they claim it will appear to have more mass, know that means MPG will be lower. The Effects of Rotational Inertia on Automotive Acceleration (At the beginning , they give easy rule of thumb guestimates)
    2) Low Rolling Resistance tires will be easier to make and purchase in taller profiles.
    3) A wider tire will be less aerodynamic than a skinny tire. It is not worrisome at most Prius speeds.

You can combat number 1 by buying forged wheels rather than cast wheels, but forged wheels start at $1500 per wheel, so payback is never going to happen. Tire rack does allow you to select that you want LRR tires in any size.
