Free meter parking for Hybrid cars in Los Angeles

    These two articles are about proposals for Los Angeles to waive meter fees for the parking of hybrid cars in Los Angeles. The proposal has a sunset clause which would expire in six months if not renewed. Other time limits on the meter would still apply.

    Cars that use alternative fuel such as electric cars and natural gas already can do this.

    There was some also some commentary in the second article from some people who opposed this proposed ordinance.


    I also remember an article in the LA Times several months ago about the same law for a person who drives a Natural Gas Vehicle. He stated that he as gotten so many tickets despite the law exempting Natural gas vehicles from putting coins in the meters, and had so much trouble fighting the tickets -- that he gave up and always pay for the meter anyway.
