OK ... we finally got around to scanning the pictures from our trip to Moorea, Raiatea, Taha'a and Bora Bora. We've put them up on Flickr for the whole freakin' world to comment on.

But we've done much more than that. We decided to create our own site to go along with our travels. So that's where I'm going to direct you. Feel free to comment on the posts or the pictures if you go to Flickr to check them out..

When I can justify the expense of the camera I want, I will. For now my 15-year-old Canon Rebel SLR still does the job. When I do, I'll probably get a Canon that uses the same mounts so I don't have to pay for new lenses, too.

If you do much shooting at all you'll make up the cost of an entry level (Canon Rebel-like) DSLR in film/processing savings in the first year and you'll be shooting a lot more pictures to boot. Scanning sucks...been there, done that and won't do much of it again except to get old slides converted to digital once in a while.

I only shoot a lot when we go on vacation somewhere cool (like Scotland or Polynesia). Most of the rest of the time it's typical "snapshot" type stuff. I'd really love a digital SLR, but right now I can't justify the expense. Strange statement coming from someone who just spent 11 nights in Polynesia, but that was an extraordinary case.

    Thanks Proco!

I liked all the photos of French Polynesia, and the ones of BVI and Scotland too.

The baguette box and the baguettes made me hungry.

Curious, how much was a baguette going for? Less than a dollar? (In France and, I think, her current and former territories and colonies, the daily bread is or was heavily subsidized).

Y'know, I actually don't have any idea. We never bought ourselves any baguette, so I never got a price. When we were planning the trip our understanding was that it would be very cheap, so I wouldn't be surprised if what you say is true. It probably wasn't more than 100 or 200 Polynesian Francs (whatever that converts to). Glad you like the pics. My wife took the baguettes box & the baguettes.
