It's easy to block passage on a street with a row of dogs. It's virtually impossible to block passage along thousands of miles of diverse terrain including mountains, deserts, rivers, etc. Toss in very powerful economic interests (hotels, agriculture, construction, manufacturing, etc.) who want a supply of immigrant labor, and the political issues become even more complicated than the physical ones.

This country was built by immigrants. Most immigrants come here because they want to work, and they work hard. And when a man sees his children starving, all the dogs in the world won't keep him out forever if someone on the other side is willing to offer him a job.

Add in minimum wage laws so low that only immigrants are willing to take those jobs, and you have a problem with no solution.

easiest fix is to enforce current employment laws here.
next - expand the mexican economy so that they find employment there - which is happening.
also - implement a Federal ID card here with biometrics.

our immigration policy should be based on our needs not the needs of other countries.
