Was doing some work on my front camera and was wondering about moving my front plate. After taking my plate and the mount off I decided to hold off on relocating my front plate. It would leave some ugly holes where the plate was.

Please note the nut behind the plate mount does not stay in place so I had to reach my arm down and hold it while putting the mount back on.

If only I could cover those holes for free.

What xliderider said. Best advice you will get. Look for the member Justdidit if you want to see what the tow hook mount looks like. Good luck!

Loved it on my last car except when it got bumped and would get crooked.[IMG]

Sezy, It looks awesome like that. Much better than normal placement. I think it gives the car added style. :)

Was doing some clay barring and decided to mess with this again. Cheapest thing to do would be to remount the original plate to the side, drilling holes and using nuts and bolts to connect. That would be permanent though.

The way the mount is aligned you can still get to the tow hook.

Found a plastic plug that can be jammed into the nut and a black bolt that will work to cover the original holes. Can't decide, maybe do the bolt and paint it white?

Left side just looks better for some reason but then I still have the tow hook cover circle I don't like

Or $40 for a tow hook plate mount,no drilling?

My tow hook plate was made for super cheap: $20

Took off the 'hook' part and bent a piece of metal from Home Depot to the angles in the picture.

Got a nut and tall plastic washer. Cut the washer on an angle to fit the curve of the car. Sandwiched the metal between the two plastic pieces of washer and tightened it up.

I took it off up here in Alberta as front plates are not required and I prefer a clean front anyway. But it was handy to have when it was needed.

Whats up with the white around the bottom fogs? I like. Jelly of the headlights too.

Even cheaper Tow hook from a junk yard. Should have snagged so many others parts for future random projects. haha

Came up with this and hate it. I attached mine with a U-bolt and a L shaped bar. Sticks out like 4-5 inches. Biggest issue is once the hook is screwed in all the way it's not level so the plate is crooked too. The headlight beam just barely hits the plate too. Going to do Plan B next time I take the bumper off.

Could try cutting the hook part off, drilling a screw hole and connect it that way vs a U-bolt. Think I'd rather just relocate and trim the factory mount. If anyone wants to try this I'll sell ya all the parts I have on the cheap.

Retrofited some 90mm Hella projector fog lights into the factory location. Modded the cutoff shield for a flat cutoff. Wasn't able to separate the fog housing to paint the chrome. :(

Photo was taken when my phone was dying... sorry for the bad quality. Modded the headlights with MH1 retrofit projector, morimoto LED strip over the faux oem LED area. Smoked the chrome bowls and Satin Black the trim. You can see some of the mods here: JustDidIt - Modding My 2007....The 2008 Touring died. | Page 13 | PriusChat

This is one of those items, if it was me, I'd just leave it as-is. That said, would be nice if the license plate was mounted below the bumper, somehow. In the default position, any time there's a "meeting of bumpers", the other party gets a nice imprint of your license plate bolts. I guess it's a proverbial problem, what with the need for aerodynamics, and not blocking grill openings.

Decided to drill holes and relocate the whole thing. Pulled the top of the bumper off for access. Used a level and marked my holes.

Grinded some for more access to the tow hook if ever needed. Unscrew the plate the get to it. Plugged the factory holes with another bolt and nut then painted white.

Sits a little high but looks similar to how I've seen on Evos.
