While on an 800 mile drive yesterday, my gas gauge stopped working. The day previously dear hubby left the lights on and drained battery. We recharged it and followed manual procedure. Everything else works fine, but gas gauge. Can this be connected to battery problem or just a coincidental problem?

What behavior does the fuel gauge exhibit?

It is normal, when 12V power is lost, that the fuel gauge needs some time to reset.

If you are unsure as to the amount of fuel in the tank, I suggest that you fill the tank now.

The line of indicator squares does not change representative of amount of gasoline used. On this last filled tank, I have driven over 200 miles and finally one "block" has been taken off. At least, it's doing something, but not normal.

OK, that is why that indicator is known as the "guess gauge".

Don't worry about it for now. See if normal fuel gauge behavior resumes after you've consumed 2-3 tankfuls. In the meantime, use the MFD or trip odometer to keep track of distance traveled since last refill, so that you don't run out of gas (assume your fuel tank has a 9 gallon capacity, to be safe.)

It should reset as you use it.

Thanks Patrick. That's what I'm doing. Hopefully it will correct itself.
