Of course, what do analysts really know? Is Chris Edmonds, director of research for Pritchard Capital Partners, a New Orleans investment firm just waxing optimistic or what? A shill for the auto companies? The tourist industry in Louisiana perhaps? Just plain stupid or does he really know what he's talking about?

I don't care; I'll still be paying less than 1/3 for gas than guzzlers.

At $2.50/gallon, if they're filling up to the tune of ~20 gallons, we're still talking a $50 fill up. Whereas if I gassed up the Prius at $2.50/gallon, it'd be right around $20 for the fill up. And I'd likely get nearly as many miles on that tank of gas as the SUV owner who's paying more than twice the amount for gas than I am. :D

Does anyone else find it mildly humorous that the article was published by the Detroit Free Press?

Not as amusing as the idea that they'd ever put in carpool/hybrid lanes on Detroit area freeways
