Pedestrian struck, killed in Anaheim; driver flees
Police seek dark-blue Toyota Prius with heavily damaged front end.

ANAHEIM – An 88-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he crossed South Harbor Boulevard on Wednesday night. The driver of what witnesses described as a dark-blue Toyota Prius failed to stop, police said.

The hit-and-run accident occurred at 8:50 p.m. The victim, Du Whang Kim of Santa Ana, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange and was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m.

According to witnesses, the victim was going westbound on Harbor Boulevard near Orangewood Avenue when the driver of the Prius, southbound in the No. 1 lane, struck him and took off. The victim was not in a crosswalk, police said.

A witness said the vehicle had a high-occupancy vehicle access sticker on the rear bumper with license plate number 5WFJ786. The vehicle is believed to have extensive front-end damage and a shattered windshield, police said.
