Gen III Bluetooth Pairing Problem

I have the $300 factory-installed blu logic module (non-navigation) on my 2010 Prius Pacakge II. The pairing instructions talk about pressing the phone button on the console for eight seconds until three short beeps are heard. I hear one beep, then two beeps but never three beeps. The dealer told me to hold the phone button for longer time to hear the three beeps. I held the button for 5 - 10 minutes, but no three beeps. Tried pairing the cellphone anyway. It does not detect a bluetooth device. The same phone pairs up okay on 2010 Camry with the navigation package. A 30-seconds of exercise has turned into several days of head-scratching and cursing. Any suggestions?
