The attached .pdf is what I did and learned upgrading my non-JBL Gen III dashboard speakers to Pioneer TS-A878 speakers.

They made a significant improvement to my system which already had the door speakers upgraded.

Adobe Reader opens it, as well as PDF Converter Pro, Irfanview and LibreOffice. I haven't tried anything else.

What application are you trying to use and can you normally open .pdf files?

It should be readable by anything that will read Acrobat 5 or newer.

I was using AR 9.4.5 and just installed AR X (10.1.0) which also works for me.

    I'm running Windows 7

It also works on my Wife's iMac in Safari

Sorry I don't have any information that will actually help you.

Edit: Also works on my Nook Color e-reader running Barnes and Nobles crippled version of Android 2.2 with Quick Office.

If you can't read the file, I'd suggest you have something seriously wrong with your PC. Adobe has many updates to address security issues - and you are likely dealing with one of those (or a virus) - good luck....

BTW - I just installed another Adobe update today (security related)...

I have no idea - it just worked the next time I tried it. No doubt it was operator error.

So, if I'm searching a direct replacement speaker for the dash, I need to look for a 3.5" model? Is that correct?

The dash position will hold up to a 3" replacement before cutting is required.

Interesting...I can't even find a 3" replacement speaker on Crutchfield...they start at 3.5". When you say cutting, what needs to be cut?

    Hey guys,

I just purchased the above speakers for my 2010 Prius Non-JBL, and I discovered that the front door speakers look like this:

And the rears look like this:

Did I order the wrong speakers for the front? It looks more like a 6x9" speaker than a 6.5" round?

Wanted to add some value to the chat. I took the advise in this thread, but used the Polk DXi350 3.5" speakers. These are currently on sale at Crutchfields Mostly because they don't need too many watts to start. They fit into the dash sockets. I think I need to put some foam around the speaker on the left to direct the sound out better, the grill blocks too much. I dremmel tooled both sides, left and right. Used the supplied capacitor (those don't have polarity do they?). Sure wish I could adjust between the dash and the front door volumes. They are set at the same level because they are run in parallel. Any specific questions, I am at energyideas gmail.

Thanks for the forum; hope this helps someone.

I added a 200 microfarad nonpolarized capacitor in parallel with the factors capacitor, and a 2 ohm resistor in series. I also added a 2 ohm resistor in series with my front door speaker.
This way, the dash speakers get a go much lower, and the 2 ohm resistors keep the minimum impedance to the amp at 3 ohms.
I started with the pioneer speakers and then switched to the polk dxi350 speakers. Though the polks claim to be 3db more efficient,
    I didn't notice much of a difference...
