So I check my 2008 prius via techstream, and just the p3000 code showed up. There was no other code that accompanied it. Would this be covered under the warranty or does the P0A80 code also need to show up for that to work? Let me know, thanks!

It's still within the 10 year 150k warranty period in california.

Should you not be asking your local Toyota dealership that question? You will have to pay the diagnostic fee, which would be refunded if corporate Toyota determines P3000 to be covered under the HV Battery warranty.

Where would I get that subcode from using techstream? I'd rather not pay 80 dollars at the dealer only to tell them that there is nothing wrong.. that's why I'm asking here @exstudent.

I just bought the car and tested it to find this, no triangle or errors of any sort as of yet.

i would disconnect the 12v for a few minutes, and see if it comes back.

Click on the 'snowflake' looking icon to the left of the P3000 code. That will take you to the freezeframe data. The 3 digit subcode will be in the lower left area of the freezeframe screen

p3000 is often way to generic to have much meaning.

I would look at other info like:
    - Delta SOC
    - Difference between Voltages of Battery blocks 1-14 while under load
Often if these show signs of deterioration you a CEL light and other codes are not far behind.
Sometimes you can force the issue by taxing the hybrid battery with a large load.

Generally you will need a P30XX code in the range for weak battery blocks or a P0A80 for most warranty replacements.

The Warranty starts from the first in service date, meaning the date the car was first sold/leased. Given the 2007 model year, it is possible the car was purchased in the 3rd quarter of 2006. If this is the case, warranty has expired.

To cover all basis, cars with a salvage title are ineligible for any warranty and recalls. If the HV Battery is not the original one that came with the car, no warranty too.

You need to find out when the car was first sold and ensure the car does not have a salvage title.

A phone call to the service department, esp the service manager, telling him the code and sub code(s) you retrieved via Techstream, can give him a good idea of warranty coverage. If the service mgr does not want to give any feedback, call another service department. Warranty repair is free easy money for the dealership, you just show up. The service dept would still have to verify what you said over the phone, though. Surley this can't be that hard to do?
