Gigaom: Chevy adopts a bring-your-own-maps approach to navigation

    Weird... 7 inch color touchscreen and nav in a car, but no voice prompts (instructions?), and no GPS antenna/hardware in the car. Smartphone, 2 gigs of storage on phone and $50 one-time expense required.

    I don't have a smartphone, but I wouldn't want to pay that for navigation either. For what car manufacturers charge for nav and map updates, I never understood the desire for actually getting it. If you already have the phone, this system is cheaper than a dash mount GPS.
