Seen a lot of Silverado ads lately? I keep hearing ones along the lines of "the longest-lasting, most dependable truck on the road".

I'm guessing it's because GM wants to aggressively get rid of their existing ones.

American trucks have always trended better in reliability than their cars.

The GM incentives and stock build up are only because the current models are old. Ford's are still newish with two good V6s that are doing well. Dodge's is new with a Truck of the Year award. Their fuel economy V6 trim is rated 20mpg city/25mpg hwy.

They also want to make room for the new redesign coming out next year. Discussion is up at cleanmpg.com about it. The new engines are DI with cylinder deactivation. The vibe their is it might not be enough. GM might match Ford in fuel economy, but they may end up in Dodge's past place of the three. Good enough with the discounts. It is still early yet to call it, with the Dodge only recently coming to market, though.
