Google aims for renewable energy cheaper than coal

    SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Google Inc (GOOG.O) said on Tuesday it plans to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to help drive down the cost of electricity made from renewable energy below the price of coal.

    I hear that shareholders will be treated more nicely when they take over the world.

    For years people have been complaining that the cost of renewable energy is more than that of carbon-based energy. THey keep saying, "if only." It has been well known that someone would have to step up and make it happen or that some break-through would need to occur. Looks like Google is stepping up.
