I asked the dealership how much they would charge me to put it in. It was over $315. I laughed. Oh he said but it takes 8 hours to install, I wouldnt' let just anyone install it if it were mine. I laughed as I got in the car and left. I don't know if you all have a place called "The Specialists" or not ( its a store that sells and installs audio equipment). Well as I was leaving I noticed one right on the corner. I will bet you dimes to donuts thats where they take them to be installed. I had had an xm installed in my van at the one closest to me. I had already ask them how much they would charge me to put mine in and they said $65.. Well I am expecting to pay more when they get into it. Now I am getting a fin and i want them to install the antennae on the back so I can put my fin over it. Those of you that have done that give me a little advice on what to tell them. I have the instructions from the dealer, but haven't really looked at them.

The install is very very simple...plug and play really. Just a little dash disassembly. Running your antenna all the way back might be a bit more involved, but you could do this yourself in a couple of hours. A pro installer won't take more than 45 minutes. $65 seems a fair price for them to charge.

You have to run the wire for the XM through the whip antenna base to get it under the shark-fin, so if you can find the instructions here for that and get the installer to do that for you it'll save you a little work once you get the shark fin.

    Howdy,

I placed my sirius antenna under my sharkfin but didn't route it up through the hole for the FM antenna, didn't want to pull headliner down etc.

I rounted it up around the weather seal as I typically do on all my cars. If you want more details I can find my thread for you.

But here are my pics of my antenna, I used the black strip to hide the antenna, not as clean as running up through the roof, but I was happy with it.

    Good luck.

ok having issues adding pics, will have to try later on, or can email them to you if you like.

If you have some pix I would like to see them also on the routing of the xm ant wire
also was told I could plug my roady 2 into the aux, plug in the console what would that do versus just having the ant pluged in and the power plugged into the roady2?
It has built in fm modulation just set fm freq to open channel or am I missing the point?
    thanks

hmm...not sure on the xm roady plugging into the aux, never used that type of unit. Always had the direct plug into the factory radio or aftermarket units, sorry.

But the antenna I ran down the side under the trim panels by the door, back under the trunk, i lead mine out the rear and I will find my old post for you to look at pics of that method, goign to try and attach the pics of the sharkfin again for ya ;-)

well this still isn't letting me post pics, if you want I can email them, private me with your email and I will send. i'lltry looking for that post for my directiosn of routing the wire.

ok finally found my link for the antenna routing. The pics are from my 4Runner, but I did the prius the same way, you'll get the idea.
