Green Drive Expo is making it's way to the West Coast this fall as it hits the San Francisco Bay Area for a one-day event on October 9th. The event that has made a name for itself out of Madision, Wisconsin is taking over the Craneway Pavillion, a beautiful factility that was once the site for production of Ford Model Ts and war-time tanks. The best news is that the event would normally cost $10 per adult ticket, but as a PriusChat member you can receive free admission. To print off a coupon for FREE admission go to www.GreenDriveExpo.com and use the coupon code PRIUSCHAT. This is going to be a great event and I would suggest it to any PriusChatter who lives in the area. I would be flying out for the event if we weren't expecting our little "Mini Cooper" arrival around the same time. Check out the press release below.
Green Drive Expo is a new consumer expo happening in the San Francisco Bay Area on Oct. 9. It's the first green car show of its kind in the Bay Area. It's taking place in the Marina District of Richmond, right on the waterfront, at the Craneway Pavilion -- the location of a former Ford auto factory where the company built Model Ts and Model As. (1414 Harbour Drive, Richmond, CA) 10am - 5pm At the expo will be exhibits, test drives, speakers and more! You will be able to drive the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid as well as the Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid and other green cars. There will be even more vehicles on display, as well as an owner's showcase. Public programs include a session on the real-life experiences of EV drivers--including a Tesla owner who will be driving up from Southern California in his Roadster for the event. Additional session topics include green car conversions, OEM panel, consumer incentives, public transportation and bicycle commuting. The keynote panel will have Lisa Margonelli, author of "Oil on the Brain," in dialogue with Chelsea Sexton, a key figure in "Who Killed the Electric Car". Green Drive Expo - Bay Area will also be premiering the trailer for the sequel, "Revenge of the Electric Car." There will be lots to do throughout the day. For more information visit the Green Drive Expo web site at www.GreenDriveExpo.com

The Bay Area? sigh ... 900 miles round trip ... 12.86 gallons hyper-mile'ing ... I'm going to have to find someone to ride share ... or take the metrolink. Sure would LOVE to do the entire round trip drive in one of those new Prius PHEV's that the WHOLE world seems to get to test ... except for me.

    Hill,
As far as ridesharing, there is a guy coming up from LA in his Tesla.... but I think his passenger seat is already spoken for. Dang!

The Craneway Pavilion is reachable by Amtrak and a nice 10 minute bus ride. I personally rode the bus so I know it's clean and quick. Buses go between the Amtrak station and the facility every 1/2 hour.

There'll be enough PriusChat folks around that may be able to pick you up if you arrive on Friday. Keep us updated on your plans via this thread. It'd be great to see you there.

It's a long drive for us, as well. Hmm...

However, a chance to see so many of my PC friends again? I just might commit to this :)

Been to the last 3 in Madison. It's a 1500 mile round trip for me, and I don't own a hybrid either. Always great to see familiar faces and meet new people with common interests.

Now I'm thinking about taking the train, or flying, or driving.

Hyo, how are you getting there?

It's still just a thought. The train would be awesome, but carpooling would be far cheaper. I don't mind sharing the driving.

Well, don't forget the other costs of driving - food, lodging, time.

At least on the train we can sleep on the way to/from. DH will likely not be able to go, so that makes us only two drivers.

I'll check the Amtrak schedule... hmm, I can fly cheaper, on Virgin America.

    Maybe driving would be better.

Sitting upright in coach for 30 hours is not really my idea of a good time. The neat thing about berths is that you get your own little room, with meals included, but of course it's more expensive. As for driving, I wonder what Octavia's up to that weekend.....:)

And this time, you will not be sitting by yourself eating room service at 2am. ;)

If you fly, BART has a station at the SF airport and one in Richmond.

What about our supreme and benevolent leader ? Will Danny and his better half be there? If one makes a pilgrimage, it seems only fitting.
    ;)

Darell owes you one too :p. . . . it'd only be a few hundred miles round trip for his RAV4-ev.
