Consumer Reports will soon report their test scores for the 2016 Prius Three. Can anyone correctly guess what the 2016 Prius Three will score?

Here are the scores of some cars to help you:

    Car Overall score Road-test score

    VW Jetta Hybrid 68 75
    Lincoln MKZ Hybrid 75 83
Ford Fusion SE Hybrid 76 80
    Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 77 80
    Tesla Model S P85D 77 100
Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 84 87

Ya, can you make it a poll, please?

I think the overall score will be 81 and the road test will be 78. I think the overall score will be higher than the road test score because the Prius aced the crash tests, has many safety features for the money, and will have great reliability. I do think the road noise and the somewhat cheap interior will bring the road test score down though. What's really going to be interesting is how the new Hyundai Ioniq will score...
I've been checking consumer reports almost everyday to see if they posted the score. :) So exciting!

Maximum possible score is 100. Currently the highest overall score is around upper 80s, with Toyota Camry being one of the highest-overall-ranked cars. The highest road-test score is 100, owned by Tesla S. Usually German luxury cars have high road-test scores, in low 90s. It's very difficult for a car to achieve a high Consumer Reports road-test score unless it's a really fast car.

I'm surprised by Camry scoring so high, higher than almost all luxury cars. So, take the Consumer Reports rankings with a grain of salt. I think most car rankings are subjective in one way or the other. Consumer Reports seem to put way too much weight on acceleration (hence the 100-scoring Tesla). They trash slow cars.

Consumer Reports is hardly a unbiased source for "test" scores. I do my own scoring. It's quite simple: Buy/Don't Buy. I wanted a high miles per gallon hatchback with a good reputation for low maintenance and high resale. Looked at all the options. Prius = Buy. That's 100/100. Case closed.

Consumer Reports online is now showing the overall score for 2016 Prius Three as 76 (out of 100). This is the same as Ford Fusion SE Hybrid but well below Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE (84). But, again, Consumer Reports only gives cars with powerful big engines high scores.

Interestingly, the review hasn't been published yet but I expect so early in the morning.

It will be interesting to see what the road-test score will be. They didn't have overall scores but only road-test scores until this year. 2015 Toyota Prius Four had a road-test score of 75.

In the article they did comparing the 2016 Prius to the new Volt, Consumer Reports worked in a reference to the white center console as looking like:

    A Stormtrooper's Bedpan.

I just can't help laughing as I post this again.

Consumer Reports review on 2016 Prius Three has just been published. Overall and road-test scores are 76 and 75 out of 100, respectively. So, it did worse than most other hybrids in the market. It also tied with Gen3 Prius Four on the road-test score (75). (There is no overall score posted for Gen3 Prius Four.)

I will start a new thread including the MPG and other performance numbers. But, quickly, the MPG numbers are as follows. City/Highway/Overall: 43/59/52 MPG, respectively.

CR's mpg results never cease to be a head shaker. Especially the city portion, where the car is officially rated higher.

I always get better MPG on the highway and around town. The stop and go for lights and traffic every couple hundred feet kills the mileage.

On the contrary, I think the EPA numbers are a head-shaker. In real-life driving, most trips are short with a lot of stopping and you get substantially more inferior fuel economy than what EPA says.

Many people here confuse rural driving with city driving, the former of which results in the highest MPG.
