    The right beam should be higher. HID headlights have a lower angle but a sharper cut off. Halogen beams shine higher but are less bright and fade more the higher you get.

    I have 2 Gen II Prii. One with HID and one with halogen.

    How does one tell the difference between HID and halogen? I know the color is different, but without something for comparson, that's not very helpful.

    My Prius is also a 2008, and I bought it secondhand, so I'm not 100% sure which I have.

    Is there a marking, a label, or a certain aspect for which to "look?"

    Do you have fog lights? If you do you have HID. If you don't you don't have HID.

    I don't have fog lights...therefore, I must have halogen.

    Surprising. My light is nowhere near as yellow as the photos posted above.

    THANKS!

    No problem. I agree, the camera makes those halogen lamps look more yellow than they actually are. Also, I know it can be hard to distinguish the color of HID from halogen, if you're only used to one or the other. For example, my mother thinks the Prius halogens are too bright, lol.

    my lights are shining on a almond colored garage door and I took the pic in the early evening;

    your previous owner may have swapped the bulbs to a silverstar ultra or something similar.

    Do they cut out on you now and again? That appears to be a distinguishing characteristic. ;)

    HID will be sort of blue when you you turn them on then change to a warm white.

    halogen will instantly turn on to full brightness and not change color.
