Has anybody else sheared off the hatch connector?

Or are we just the lucky first ones to have it happen?

Went to shut the hatch after shuttling groceries into our other car to drive up the hill to the house, shut the hatch and it didn't sound like it caught properly. Opened it up to try again, and saw the metal "D" ring latch sitting in the hole. Whoops!

And of course it's a 3-day weekend ... here's hoping that it's still covered under warranty somehow.
