I want to get rid of the oil burning on my Prius. After the PCV valve and with over 200,000 miles I believe the most likely cause is piston rings gummed up. But that could lead to cylinder wall damage. I'd like to see if the cylinder walls are ok before ordering just a set of pistons. A $2,000 engine block would be quite a bit jump, but that would be correct step if the cylinder walls are toast.

I want to get a simple borescope and see what the walls look like without removing the heads. Has anyone else done this? Any suggestions on what tiny camera on a flexy stick to get?

Here in this video has a camera for $139.00

This video here has a good cheap device to take a look at the cylinders

Rings have failed from crappy oil.

Many a used G2 engine replaced on this forum from this very issue. Used G2 engines are plentiful and fairly cheap. Check local bone yards
and ebay has many from $300 to $700.

More members will come along with other outlets.
