I see that "The Critic", and maybe a few others, have replaced their Prius FUEL PUMP for preventative maintenance and to keep from being stranded. Excellent writeup and a big help by the way. Thanks!

I have 245,450+ miles on my 2011 Prius and am wondering if the fuel pump replacement is really necessary. It's an expensive part. I've done the water pump, t-stat, OCC, etc. I've never had to do wheel bearings, yet and I'm on my original brakes.

My question is: Has anyone ever had a FUEL PUMP on a Gen 3 Prius go bad?
