Have any of you guys experienced this?

I will have my heater on with upper vent selected and it will randomly switch to bottom vent. Then I put it back on upper vent and it blows very hard. It's like it has a mind of it's own. Am I driving a Transformer? lol.

Not sure but wondered if it was the fresh/recycled air option. Is that it?

it's possible. for some reason, toyota programmed that to change the direction/fan speed.

the hvac is programmed to change the air direction based on fresh or recirc air, i'm not sure why. it's very confusing.

    Is "Auto" lit?

I find that Auto overrides your vent selection. Front defrost does up the air speed because it's an "on demand" feature, but I've always had an easier time having heat going to the windshield and floor at the same time...but the system doesn't seem to accept that configuration on Auto mode.
