This is a car I'm considering buying.

Most of the above appear to trace back to a potential issue with the HV ECU.

B1421 = was done at night, so solar sensor malfunction is expected.

The HV battery is very weak: 35% SoH with 915mAh extracted though deltaV stays pretty tight until you get to the steep area of the SoC curve where it expands to about 0.33V :

What's killing me is... NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON!

When I hit power for READY, I see the lights, but they go out, and the Master alarm works if I open the door with it in "D".

A 12V reset clears everything except:

And no. As much as I tell people to do it, I don't necessarily practice what I preach. I did not test the 12V.

I see three possibilities (in order of likelihood):
    1. Bad HV ECU
    2. Bad 12V
    3. Very weak HV battery causing secondary issues.
    Any input is welcome.

    Thanks,

    Steve

So basically if you have a spare hv battery to swap in, you'll know if it works or not?

    SM-N900P ?

Those are all nags for a dead 12 volt battery. Its throwing the bad 12v battery alarm on boot up.

Thanks guys. Car runs and drives fine aside from an over-active SoC meter due to the deteriorated battery. It's not a salvage title like my Ratmobile, so it's smooth and quiet instead of a rattletrap.

I was a little shocked to see the list on Techstream with no dash indication. Any ideas why no CEL or other indications of a problem, or is that the "12V battery alarm" to which you refer?

I've made arrangements with the owner for a final go-over. I'll check the 12V and force a fault by removing the safety inter-lock. it really bothers me that there are ZERO dash indications of codes when there are a half dozen active codes. By removing the HV battery safety, I know I'll trip a code.

    Thanks again,

    Steve

12V checked at 12.65V after sitting all day. I didn't do a load test.

Pulled the safety plug and got a code like a big dog, so I know that's working.

Reset 12V, and all was well on the drive home. I'm back to thinking it might be the HV ECU, but I'll keep an eye on it.

It will get a fresh pack installed this weekend. My wife is dying to drive it, but it's off limits when SoH is 38%.

I didn't get a great deal, but I kept the next guy from getting royally screwed, and my wife is happy. I DOUBT this car would have made it through another summer without a new HV battery. Would have been one very unhappy customer. I expect I can rescue it based on the numbers.

If that was my car, I would swap out that pack for a newer pack from a wreck.....safety and reliability for my family. Rebuild that pack and sell it

Having reconditioned 6 packs from wrecks, a pack from a wreck provides ZERO reliability confidence for me. 5 were in bad shape and 1 was near perfect. Not a good ratio for me.

Once I've been through a pack and thoroughly tested everything, THEN I have confidence in reliability - not a moment before.

I have an extremely reliable pack on the bench that will go in over the weekend.
