I have a rental from Toyota. It's a 2010 with the following: Xenon, Heated Seats, NAV, PCS, Leather Package

I ran over a Caltrains HWY cone that was left in the middle of the freeway.

And the PCS system is going crazy, i also have icons that look like traction control off and abs

the visible damage that it caused (all on the left hand side) is that it -tore the bottom lip of the front bumper
    -took out the fog light
-left front inner wheel well fender

i've tried turning off the PCS system via the disable switch adjacent to the TPS monitoring switch above the break pedal

is their anyway to reset or clear these faults?

Right now it drives fine, but I cannot even engage the cruise control.

Hook up a ScanGauge or go to a shop or store that will read codes free & let us know if there are any. Does CalTrans use cement or iron cones? I wouldn't have thought a plastic cone would cause so much damage.

I'm not a mechanic or an engineer but I suspect brake sensors and or computers are damaged causing the brake idiot lights.

If the PCS turned off you now have a "PCS" light on.

Are any of the circles on the bumper damaged or moved? Will a damaged or misaligned sensor disable the cruise control?

My guess is that there is $1000 surface damage & another $1000 to the avionics.

At least you found an upscale place for a rental. A V-AT isn't the usual rental around here.

Memo to self: Don't run over cones.

Paying with a credit card that offers car rental loss/damage coverage should cover it.

    Hopefully he was that smart....

I do not see the reason for clearing the codes, did he think the Dealer would not notice the body damage...

Some dealers mabe slightly stupid, but they certainly are not that DUMB!!!

Not only that, but most of the time your personal auto insurance covers rental cars.

Do everything by the book. Notify the car owner (the rental company) within the time limit of the contract. Notify your insurance company within the time limit of your policy. Then just do the right thing and pay the deductible or the whole thing if you are not covered.

Don't try to fix it yourself. Don't try to reset codes. It is not your car. It's dishonest. And it is probably against your agreement to fix the car yourself. Honor the agreement you have with the rental company.

And don't drag the reputation of this honorable chat site down by asking for help to evade your liability - which can viewed as fraud or helping someone commit fraud. I hope you are not a troll.

    Do the right thing.

Why do you even want to know the codes?
