What's up everyone! Yesterday I traded in my 08 Tundra for a 12 Prius 2 TSS (I think?). The 12 is still a new car technically never been titled, hidden on a local Toyota dealers lot bc there is hail damage. I just read the newbie info thread and there is a lot of stuff on there I feel much better knowing. Thanks for all y'all contribute and I look foreword to contributing as well. Cheers! image.jpg

Great find on a leftover 2012, how much you pay?
    Nice wheels.
How many miles were on it when you got it?

    Welcome.
    Those are nice wheels.
As someone who is NOT a fan of the IMO ugly OEM wheel covers that come standard on Prius, I'd say those wheels look really sharp.

However, any changes in wheel size or weight "might" affect your potential gas mileage. You'll just have to see.

You should find that Prius Chat is a great place for gaining Hybrid and Prius knowledge, and getting advice and support in solving any issue that might arise. I also find it to be a great site for general Toyota/Automotive news and discussion.

You should also (if you haven't already) register at the Toyota Owners website. It's a nice resource for direct information. Has the owners manual available in a compartmentalized format, and allows you have a place to keep automotive repair and maintenance records. You can also look up local dealerships and use it as a portal to schedule online service appointments.

My most basic immediate advice to a new owner would be at least initially, just drive it. Don't worry too much about the gauges, mpg or anything except driving it. It's really NOT that complicated, and you can slowly learn what information is important, and how far or NOT far you might want to go in employing hypermiling techniques. The Prius is really pretty good at being "automatic". So basically my advice is...just have fun.

The wheels are a factory option, it's not an aftermarket part. It's a special wheel only available in the Gulf Toyota states.

Well, they look great. If they are ONLY available in Gulf Toyota States then they aren't a "standard" and available to everyone factory option. So it's probably more correct then to define it as a "regional" factory available option.

It's STILL not the OEM wheel. So I'd suspect it does impact the gas mileage one way or another. I'd be curious to hear from those that do have these wheels what their experience is with them.

Dorunron has these wheels on his 2013. He gets above 50mpg, with Michellin LRR tires.

These wheels are available for anyone to order, through a Gulf States Toyota dealership. List price is $277, however they discount them online and sell them for $170-$180 plus shipping

    Greetings and welcome aboard!

Did they say why somebody would trade a car in with 2,400 miles on the clock??

    All the best!

No trade, just test drive miles and dealership errands I suspect. I am the 1st owner, it has hail damage and was on a lot in truck country so it never sold.

They've likely replaced the 12 volt, if you're having no problems. Ours was a similar back-of-the-lot, not as extreme, manufactured Aug '09, our purchase in Nov '10. 12 volt was replaced by the dealer at time of sale. It worked out just fine.

They half-heartedly tried to dodge the 12 volt swap: for our test drive, they had it in ready mode when we arrived, likely jumped it in advance. When I tried to start it up again it was game over. I guess they were hoping it would revive with driving, not sure.

I've put 300 miles on it already. No problems so far (knock in wood). I get 49 mpg on my 60 mile one way commute so far, which is like living on another planet compared to the 15mpg I was getting. I'll do some reading on the 12v to get a better idea of what to look for. Thanks!

Are those the only option or are the other styles/sizes? If they are made for Toyota, then I suppose they are OEM-SE. If they are part of the warranty, who cares? :)

BTW. Those with standard 15" wheels/tires, do you remove the covers to expose the black alloy wheels? Does doing so impact mpg?

These tss wheels are not options you normally purchase. You are buying as replacement parts. Toyota never had these on their options catalog.

Taking off hub caps will not affect mpg
