You need to remove the mirror first, then you can remove the cover.

You will need a moulding remover to detach the four claws that hold the mirror onto the housing.

Disconnect the two electrical connectors and remove the mirror from the housing.

Once you get the mirror removed, detach the six claws which hold the cover on the housing.

    Done.

^^No - waaaaay too much work.

If your only looking to remove the 'cover' that hides the mirror motor and housing - I used a very small flathead screwdriver and just popped the cover off. Done it multiple times, never broke any tabs.

Did it when I did my puddle lights and PlastiDip'd the side mirror covers

It might help the OP out if you posted a photo of the opposite side of the covers (if you have it)
so he can see where the tabs are.

Without arguing whether it's possible to do without popping the glass out, I'll just say: I pop the glass out. It's easy, it's made to pop out, and the claws you push on to free the color cover are right there to push on after you do.

My pics are all messed up.. you can get in above the mirror into the cowling(between mirror and cowling) with a thin flat blade and release the 2 clips that hold in the middle..

2 clips in the middle and 3 hooks along the bottom..

maybe adjust your mirror either full down or up and se if you can see back there with a flashlight.. Ill try and get my pics working..

I put some bits of green tape on the 2 bits you have to hit to release the mirror...
