Nice. I thought they matched the Prius' HIDs in colour?

Hey, I just ordered what DocVijay ordered. The color isn't exact, and when you see it in person it does not appear that different. So, I guess you could order a different temperature range HID to try to more closely match the headlights if you wanted. These are fine by me. I actually had my brother drive my car and follow me so I could see how they looked in the rear view mirror- big improvement over the stock lights.

    Good luck.

Oh, sorry about the picture order; I still do not know how to add a picture and text and then another and text so they are in the order I would like......sorry.

Yellow doesn't make a great fashion statement but it is usually better than white if the fog lights are going to be used for seeing through fog.

Thanks! Could you please go back and edit your first post and put "returns" between each of the first row of pictures. Have to scroll to read the whole thread - and that's on a 21" widescreen monitor!

Your prius is my favorite. I have seen pictures on another thread and your car is stunning. Truly.

Yes, but that would be a pure yellow rather than this light yellow that halogens give off.

    CapeCodPrius,
Thank you very much. I enjoy my car; my wife just cracks up, but likes the Prius too. Last night I went to an early Thanksgiving dinner and when friends arrived thay laughed and said you have an NSX sitting in your garage and you drive the Prius? I told them I love driving the Prius. I am going to be buying wheels and tires as my next project to replace the Scion wheels with light weight 17" wheels and try to recoup some of my mileage. Hoping to find a tire/wheel package for about $1500. Thanks again.

sometimes the camera cant present light as our naked eye does, btw i would have probably gotten the 5500 K hid bulbs, i ordered them on ebay for my stock prius HID's 85 bucks and wow they are great. I thought cheap HID bulbs were not worth it, but the color temperature amazed me

Hi Cairo94507, how much of a MPG hit you have? mine dropped to - mpg since my 17TC's at 40 F/38 R psi. Besides, these TC rims are not much heavier that the OEM's, the difference is in the tire path/contact with the road surface and LRR.

I probably lost 3-4 MPG. As far as the weight difference, my understanding is that is was a substantial weight difference between stock and Scion wheels. Anyone out there know the actual numbers?

cairo94507, in your first couple of pictures, are the red/black pigtails going to the fog lights part of the original wiring harness or part of the upgrade? I'm trying to decide if I need to have a quick disconnect close to the fog lights for removal of the bumper, or can just run to the lamps directly from the main harness I will be making. Thanks for any info.

I saw some Packard Weather Pack connectors on waytekwire.com that look very similar to the 9006 connectors I already bought, minus the pigtails. I now need a good source for the denso relay as I want to install the relay in the factory position. Toyota's price is close to $50, a lot higher than the $5 Hella relay.

    Great job!

Did you rewire the fogliights so they work independently of the headlights (ie: the fogs can be on regardless if the headlights are off, low or high)?

Also, do you know anyone in New England who would install the HID fogs and wire them independent of the heahlights?

It looks like you mounted that heat sink to the foam bumper. Do you think it could get hot enough to melt the foam?

FL Buckeye - if you look at the end of the red/blk wires you will see the factory brownish color plug that plugged into the factory bulbs in the bumper. The red/blk are part of the kit.

No - I still need to do that. I want them to operate with the parking lights on without the headlights. I will do it as soon as I find out how to do it easily.

There was a thread on PC about a year ago where someone described how to make the fogs independent from the headlights. I think it involved putting in a diode between two pins on a plug. The person that did it wasn't available to do it for others though. The work didn't seem that hard. But at 48, my soldering, wiring and sticking my head under dashboard days are over. I'm still looking for someone in New England that could do the job.

Thanks! There's an excellent description of the mod on evnut.com. Darell describes the level of difficulty of the mod as easy to moderate. But that's for Darell. For others, like me, it would range from difficult, to incredibly frustrating to impossible! I wish I could just pay someone to do this. Does anyone know someone in New England that has done this mod before and is willing to do it for others for a fee?

I'm a bit late in replying to this thread...

Anyway, those are the same HID's I used for my fog conversion. THe color is as close as you're going to get with aftermarket. Also, the bulbs undergo a color-shift after a little while, sort of a settling in procedure and afte that they color will be very close. Mine look identical when viewed directly, and pretty darn close against my garage wall.

ANyway, the main benefit is that the fogs now actually produce some useable light!

cairo or DocVijay, Do you have to remove the bumper to install those HID's? Thanks.
