Newbie here with a new 2011 Prius 3. Got my windows tinted 20% all the way around  Looking good!!! Now its time for some HID's.

After searching the forum i've heard 3 retailers that people are buying from so i wanted to take a poll on your retailer of choice for HID Kits. Looking to buy 35w 5000k or 6000k (still debating). My Nissan has the DDM Tuning kit and only had one problem which was the fuse melted.

    1) HIDextra
    2) DDM Tuning
    3) The Retrofit Source

I prefer The Retrofit Source because of their customer service record and quality of the product. Sure they are more expensive but I;d rather keep guys like them in business. It's kinda like supporting your local farmers by purchasing vegetables at a farmers market which is more expensive than the grocery store. Sometimes anyway.

That being said I think the DDM ballasts are ok but I wouldn't use their bulbs. I prefer to use the Morimoto bulbs if I am stuck with using a non-OEM brand.

I'd go with the 5000K. The 6000K has too much blue in it and you'll look like the other HID noobs running around with HIDs in their halogen housings. lol

DDM tuning here. Everything checks out fine after a year of using their product. It's so cheap you may as well give it a shot and if you're satisfied, fine. If not, you're not out hardly anything. Also, 35W 5000K will be the best as F8L said.

  4. I would look into Xenon Depot's Xtreme Digital HID kit. Not sure how many people in this forum have tried them out, but you can find pages and pages of satisfied buyers in the Club Lexus forum. They're not the cheapest but if you put in the coupon code "pc" it'll knock $25 off. The dual relay setup is what sold me.

Got Xenon Depot Xtreme Digital kit, because I don't feel like dealing with cheap bulbs that keeps on going out every few months like my friend is with his car. Satisfied with the kit's build quality and performance so far. Took me a minute to install because of dual relay setup.

  8. Good to hear someone else gave their kit a try. I'm very impressed with the kit and the 5000k color temperature. No hint of blue...just pure white light.

Aside from DDM tuning kit, what other "QUALITY" kits are available for under $100?

Forgive a newb, but I have no idea where to start on getting an HID kit. My 2011 III is being delivered in 2 weeks and this along with fog lights is one of the mods I'd like to start with.

Be careful with HIDs in the foglights. They usually end up too bright and blind oncoming traffic. It's unsafe for you and them.

I would check your beam pattern as it is. If it is lighting up street signs then I would not put HIDs in them.

Well, I guess I should clarify, I want to add fog lights. I also want to upgrade to HID headlights...(not HID fog lights as well). I just don't understand what all is included in upgrading to HID. Essentially I guess I'm looking for a step by step guide and parts list.

How difficult is the installation? Is this a DIY project? I've never done any alterations to a car before. Are there retailers or Toyota dealers that install these locally?
