I seem to remember that several months ago when I was researching prior to buying my Prius, I saw information "somewhere" (another site?) about additional MFD screens that show technical data (for service people?). Seems that a combination of steps were required & probably not in ready mode.

At the time I wasn't familiar at all with MFD, so the info was of little use to me. Now I'd like to know more.

This may just be a case of my "false memories", but I'm curious.

    One of the screens is:

    1) Press INFO
    2) Press DISPLAY
    3) Within the area that's still the INFO screen, tap the upper left corner.
    4) Repeat step 3 in the lower left corner
    5) Repeat steps 3 & 4 two more times (a total of 6 taps)

You should see another screen. I think tapping on the lower right gives another. IIRC you get out of the screen by either powering down or holding DISPLAY.

As you say. It's not for experimentation without guidance. Supposedly (I'm only going by hearsay, since I haven't done it.), you can really screw up the system.

That screen isn't as bad as the one that the 2004-2005 can get to when they do the NAV override. On that screen, pressing LOADING will screw up the NAV system to the point you have to take the unit apart and press a reset button.

Other buttons reset things and some just give information. But you should be real careful when playing with them in any case.

What purpose does an MFD screen serve?

Em, what exactly do you mean? The MFD handles the Audio and Climate Control, plus displays Energy and Consumption. If you have the built-in NAV there's more things it does. You also have the display for the camera when it's in reverse. It also displays diagnostic screens, which we were talking about.

Sorry, we had a Prius for 3 days and are now awaiting it's replacement, so all of this is new to us. Guess I should pull out the guide and pay attention to the different initials. MFD is 'multi-function display' then? Well, live & learn. Thanks! I'm sure there will be more 'duh' questions posted by us, and we appreciate the very patient answers from other chat members.

Right. And sorry for the snippy reply. Another you'll see often is ICE, which stands for "Internal Combustion Engine." You can take a look here for a list of acronyms and abbreviations.

    I know one!
First you must lock/unlock your windows four times.
    Roll them all down.
Turn your radio to volume 40.
Honk your horn 10 times for intervals of five seconds each.
You will get a screen that says "Beware of gullibility."
