The left front headlight goes out but comes back on if the lights are turned off then back on. After several minutes it goes out again. What gives?

This question has been answered in about a dozen other threads. Search for HID headlights or HID headlamps for details.

The problem is a bunch of faulty HID capsules from Toyota. Many PC members have ordered replacement capsules from the Internet with good results. Toyota wants an arm and a leg for a new one, and often the tech will insist on replacing the ballast. Charges up to $450 are common.

Buy yourself a new set of capsules, search PC for the step by step installation instructions, and you'll be good to go.

Alternately, you can have Toyota fix the problem, pay out of pocket, and then complain to Toyota corporate and they will most likely reimburse the expense. They know there is a problem, but so far have not done a recall.
