    Hello Group -

I'm looking for excellent fitting sheepkins. Pep Boys sells the cheap stuff with side fake skin.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ray,

I like the so-called "Custom" fit ones from ShearComfort.com. They are not truly custom fit. Instead they have a bunch of patterns and they send you the one that they think best fits your car.

Several of us have had them on the Gen 3 and Gen 2 Prius. They are very thick Australian Merino wool all around (no fake fur anywhere), supremely comfortable, good fitting, and relatively inexpensive at $250 for both front seats.

Here are pics of them on my Gen 2:

They are discussed in this thread, which also has additional photos:

I don't know how you guys can drive with sheepskin seat covers. I would find it way too distracting. :eyebrows:

Hi Tom, you're not originally from New Zealand by any chance are you. ;)

A quick question for Boo if you're still around. In your picture there of your interior, has the "lift up top" of the center console been re-covered or is that original?

BTW. I've got pretty much the same seat covers as pictured by boo and I like them a lot. They give really good insulation so they're good all year round.

That's an aftermarket leather center console cover from Prius Hoods. I think it looks swell. BTW, although it comes in gray, tan or black, I think black looks best -- it picks up the black in the rest of the car (dash, steering wheel, center console, doors), and contrasts nicely with either the gray or ivory/bisque Prius interiors. I do have the ones with the velcro'd flap to allow proper deployment of the side airbag. You can see the cut of the flap in the rear/side view picture above.

But I didn't pay $18 for them per se. I bought my covers in barely-used condition from a PriusChatter for half-price ($125 for both front seats).

I dont fully understand. Does the sheepskin manufacterer understand where to cut the cover so air bags can deploy?

    I'm calling them now....

Since those covers are designed for the Prius, they know where to place the flap. The Prius airbag is mounted in a specific location of the side of seat frame and that location does not vary.

In pic, airbag is the black thing with yellow label before I placed the seatback foam over it.
