Geneva, Switzerland - Honda will present the world debut of its Small Hybrid Sports Concept at the Geneva Auto Show on March 6. It will also unveil the FCX Concept fuel cell car for the first time in Europe.

The Hybrid Sports Concept represents Honda's proposal for a future hybrid model; the company says that the car, which was designed by Honda R&D Europe in Offenbach, Germany, "explores the idea that a car can have a low environmental impact yet still deliver all the driving enjoyment expected of a compact sports car."

The company will also unveil its next-generation diesel engine, which uses world-first technology to reduce emissions to the same level as a gasoline engine. A revolutionary catalytic converter reduces NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions to a level that enables the engine to meet EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 requirements. The converter uses the reductive reaction of ammonia to "detoxify" NOx by converting them to harmless nitrogen, but unlike selective catalytic reduction systems which use urea injection, Honda's technology uses ammonia generated within the catalytic converter. The company says it plans to introduce the engine within three years.
