Looking at thoses side edges above the headlights, they might start flapping at highway speeds.

The little black dots are rubber/plastic stick-ons that prevent flex downward and rubs on the hood. The deflector will most likely wrap around underneath and be fastened with screws. That is, if it's anything like the deflector on my F250, which looks very much the same.

Mine has little wing-like things on the edges, too, and they do not flap. That plastic is pretty stiff.

My deflector got put on in 1999, as did my window drip covers. They are both a bit long in the tooth but still working ok. I should replace both, but that's a lot of bucks when they still are in serviceable condition. They've both been good to have.

On the truck the deflector was great to keep bugs off the bottom half of the windshield. I haven't done a lot of buggy highway driving in the C so don't have a great deal of experience with where bugs fall in the glass. However, I do recall seeing a number of bugs on the front but not much at all on the glass. I think the front is already pretty good at protecting the windshield.

Bad thing is that it traps a lot of leaves, maple tree helicopters, sticks, etc. and is a bear to reach under when hand washing. Over time it loses it's shine with car wash chemicals and requires a wax to bring back to a shine. It has cracked and had damage underneath where it's screwed to the hood.

However, it would still look kinda cool on most colors. I don't think I'd want one on the orange car I have.

OK - it was an easy install. The deflector is high quality - not those cheap-o's that just use double stick tape and rubber bumpers. There is no drilling - you use pre-existing holes under the hood. The deflector's material is black plastic and is just under 1/8 inch thick with a finished height is about 1/2 from the surface of the hood.

There are two metal brackets near the center of the hood secured by push pin retainers (good quality hardware). I used aluminum coated tape instead of the provided anti-abrasion film (3M thick Scotch tape type stuff) between the bracket & the hood. Push pin retainers are used to attach the deflector to the center mounted brackets.

Then there are two adhesive backed, plastic mounting plates away from center on both sides. Pins are dropped through the top of the deflector and mated with the plates. Then a screw goes through the plate and into the dropped push pins (good design - really secure).

    My tips are:
    1. take your time
    2. read the instructions
    3. do a dry fit
    4. keep your hands & hood clean
    5. install the adhesive plates with the "molding method" instead of the recommended tape into place.
    6. pay attention to the position of the screw hole on the adhesive plates

Molding Method is dry fitting to the correct placement with a small section of the adhesive backing pulled away. This lets you move and shift the plate to the desired position. Then press down on the section with the exposed adhesive and peel away the rest of the backing (use tweezers because space is tight).
