My home town team and Alma Mata the Fresno State Bulldog's (CSUF, Fresno, CA) just took the College World Series (CWS) today and are now the National Champions! Truly a monumental feat for a smaller college team and the lowest seeded team ever (College or Pro) to win a national title. Read about it, it is an inspiring story as far as sports go. The players and team broke a bunch of records getting there and hit 14 home runs, only 1 or 2 teams has ever hit over 6 in the CWS. In addition FSU's best pitcher was out with a shoulder injury, and about a third of the rest of the team was playing with injuries. The hero in the final game was Steve Detwiler (sp?) who had a severed ligament on his left thumb (painful ) but continued playing and hit 2 home runs as well as a double and a single which put him at 4 for 4 on the day and also driving in all 6 of the (RBI's) runs for the game. BTW they played the Georgia Bulldawg's from UGA in the 3 game series.

FSU lost the first game to UGA after blowing a three point lead (6-3) in 8th inning to UGA after Georgia put together a 4 run rally.

Second game went to FSU after coming from behing (5-0) in the third inning to a final score of 19-10.

Third and final game went to FSU Bulldog's 6-1.

This is a real Cinderella story, the really cool thing about it was that most of the hitting or a good portion of it came from the bottom of the batting order.

p.s. I bet before next years season starts Fresno State has to put back up that set of stands they took down last year. :pound: :p
