Not sure who to attribute the quote to...Def Leopard, Kurgan from Highlander?

Oh...couldn't care less. I think my wife stated she'd want to bury me, head stone and all...so there's a 'place to visit me'. Whatever. At that point it's not about me, it's about the living and I'd never force or pressure them to do something with my dead body that they weren't comfortable with.

But....I want a party..a huge blow out, tons of single malt Scotch, drunken laughing foolishness. Old photos and videos and stories and memories galore. Loud rock and roll blaring and no mournful saddness crap...

I am going to be donated to science so they can find out why I was the way that I was! Same thing for my wife.

I have a friend who wants to be cremated, then have his ashes packed in brass shotgun shells, each engraved with his name. The shells would be given to his close friends and relatives, who could then each keep their shell, or shoot it off at a location of their choice.

He was inspired from reading Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat cereal boxes as a child: "Shot from guns".

The topic title sounds like the question was "How do you want to die?" but the discussion seems to be "What do you want done with your remains after you die?" Which is it? Two very different questions.

I don't have a TV, but when I was a kid there was a commercial that sang: "I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner..." That's the ultimate in recycling.

But if I was sentenced to be executed and given my choice of methods, I'd like to be eaten alive by Juliette Lewis.

Dying of old age is just the slowest way to die. I'd rather die at a middle age in some amazing way that makes the 11:00 news. Possibly struck on the head from a bowling pin that was thrown a couple blocks from the bowling alley when the gas station next door exploded when some idiot dropped their cigarette butt when they were filling up their Hummer. The Hummer would of course be thrown into the air, crashing through the roof of the bowling alley, causing the bowling alley to also catch on fire. The fire would cause the sprinklers to come on, shorting out the electrical system which would cause the pin placers/ball returns to start spitting pins and bowling balls out like shrapnel. One of the pins would fly through the opening in the roof and come down on my head as I am sitting on a park bench admiring the beautiful day.

Remember, it's not the years in your life that matter, but the life in your years.

Good for you. Same with myself and my wife. What science doesn't want will be cremated and the ashes will be mixed with other loved ones' ashes.

    What's the old joke?

I'd rather die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did instead of crying and screaming like the passengers who were riding with him.

    Either that or soylent green.

as long as it's not from some debilitating, drawn-out disease i suppose i don't really know or care how i'll die, because it'll come one of these days anyway.

i think i'd go for cremation, but i haven't thought much more about it, though i probably should.

actually my SO asked me this question out of the blue last night. im sure it was inspired by our being in an accident last week

"if you knew you were gonna die in a car accident, would you do it with your eyes open or closed?"

    i said

"open, because i would never accept that i was going to die. i would be too busy trying to manuver to survive."

    she said

"what if you weren't the driver?"

    i said

"still open, as i would want my last vision on this Earth to be of you"
