I have a 2011 Prius with just 79K miles on it. In decent shape. How may years should I expect the car to last?
I would like my next car to be electric. When would be a good time to sell my car?

Now will be the best time to get the highest price. Used car prices are very high. However new cars are scarce so high prices in the car market becomes a dual edged sword.

    i saw a base civic for 210 a month

if you clean the egr circuit so the head gasket doesn't blow, it will last until the brake actuator or hybrid battery go south

What’s your definition of lasting? It will probably go for quite some time before the engine and transaxle break or the car literally falls apart. The HV battery could possibly last another 100,000 miles or more if it’s still in good shape.

I look at cars from the perspective of cost of replacement. When a repair or maintenance bill or a series of them go(es) over the expected price of a similar replacement vehicle, then the car is done.

If you want an electric car now, then of course now would be an excellent time to sell your Prius, since used cars are at an all time high in prices. But if you’re not in a hurry, or if you’re on a budget, you’ll have a greater selection of EVs the longer you wait. If there’s nothing obviously wrong with your Prius now, it will probably last a few more years at least.

Keep driving under it won't move. My 06 Camry get 200,000 miles, still running like new. I just changed two front struts and transmission fluid.

Things like this are tough to say. It could last a 400k or it could last 200k who knows. The way you take care of it and treat it has significant influence. Unfortunately with 3rd gen prii you're battling uphill but if you treat it well you could certainly ride it out a while.

Yes, used car prices are high everywhere. I bought 2010 Prius in July because i wanted one. Just realized that i paid 30% what car had cost new..11 years ago. With just few thousand euros more i could have got brand new Kia Rio. But that’s not a cool car. My son (primary user) very much agreed
