How many total people have taken delivery of 2010 Prius, and how many miles were on the Odometer upon delivery?

When I got my 2007 package 5, it was not the car used for test drives, and it had 2 miles on it.

Tomorrow, if all goes well, I will be picking up my 2010 Blue Ribbon package IV with solar roof, and I have been contemplating how many miles will be on the car. Dealer says it will be their first, so I am wondering if it will have over 100 miles after evey sales person and other interested dealership employee takes a drive. I will let you all know when I find out.

I was told by my salesperson that they would not let other buyers inside, let alone, test drive my car. He said that it would have 7 or 8 miles on it as they are required to test drive the car after the required prep (fluids, etc.). Mine'snot due until June 10th.

This must vary by dealership. DW and I sat in a pre-sold one on Sunday, as did two other couples while we were there.

I had 7 on my 2004, and would expect < 10 on the 2010. Any more and you'd expect *someone* took it for an unneeded spin. The more hops it takes to get from port to the dealer, the more miles you'd expect.

'08 one mile. Dealer would not even let anyone sit in my car. At that time, they were rare.

There were 6 miles on my '10 Prius when I test drove it, but I was not the only interested party. By the time all the paperwork was complete, there were twenty additional miles on the odometer.

If you have a car on order, you can call your dealer and request that no one be allowed to drive your car before you close on it.

Our 2010 Prius III with Navi. had 58 miles, about 15 miles was from me test driving it prior to our purchase.

The "B" trip now has over 52 MPG for about 330 miles of mixed driving from my fiance' and myself.

I forget the exact number but when we toured the factory in Georgetown a certain number were pulled aside and test driven around the track at the factory. I would expect with the 2010's being so new this number pulled aside would be more then normal so i wouldn't be surprised if quite a few had a few miles on them before they got to the dealers.

in 2001 i purchased a new vehicle from a dealer.

he let me take it home and drive it for 24 hours as a "test drive".
that is, i got into the vehicle with 15 miles on it, drove it for a day, returned it the following day with 250+ miles on the odometer.

did i end up purchasing it??? YES!

however, i was under no obligation to buy as we had not even talked about "my price", only that i was mildly interested.

so, a free test drive of sorts...

I have heard is said many years ago that up to 500 miles was considered normal with multiple test drives and such. That convension may have changed over the years as new cars rose from $3,000 to $30,000.

mine had 25 miles on it so i figured the salesmen there took a ride in it since it was the only one they had so far... also wondering if it was driven from port of Tacoma which just about the 25 miles since its a one car delivery?? but i guess they could have had other cars coming in too so who knows?

either way, my warantee is 36.000 + 25

As a general rule of thumb, I will not let someone drive a sold order. I had to hide the key to the first one we got in to keep every salesman, tech, porter, etc from driving the car. I must have had 10 people ask me for the key. When I told them it was sold, they said, "Well, I'm just going for a short drive." I replied, "You don't realize how short it is because you aren't going anywhere with this one."

When I test drove a 2008 last summer, the car had over 600 miles on it. I figured it was a demo and I would get a fresh one from the lot but he said that was the one I would get. If they marked the car down a little then I had no problem with the miles but they wanted full sticker price. I knew the 09's were coming so I waited. Then when I heard about the new 2010 car, the gen 2 just faded away.

My car, a Prius V with Navi in Blizzard Pearl / Misty Gray is currently on a ship, the Ariuga Leader, which is expected to port in Portland on 5/27, and get delivered approx: 6/18.

While I have not yet asked Jabber to not let anyone drive it, I think based on his prior posts, that I will not need to ask him as he will keep it closely guarded. (Jabber, Hint, Hint ;))
