How much do TPMS sensors go for?

I got one off eBay for about $25 delivered.

 

Put the sensors in the car and reset the TPMS system. Your light will go out and stay out. At least then they will do -something- for you.

 

Champion ToyotaWorld wants $76.78 apiece for new ones.

Was there not enough space in the new rim for the sensor to fit?

 

All four, assuming that the system can be tricked to keep the warning light off when the TPMS sensors are registering 0 psi pressure.

 

The current pressure has to be something like 8 psi over the warning level. Some people have commented that it's 75% of pressure at reset. Would be an interesting test to see if 75% of zero passes the test...

One idea I've seen is to create a manifold out of PVC pipe. Drill holes for the sensors, mount them inside the pipe, cap off both ends. Then inflate the rig to enough pressure to make the sensors happy.

Another idea is to just unplug the TPMS computer. That will either shut it up, or make another computer freak out over it's absence.

Or you could purchase sensors that fit your new wheels.

The eBay unit that I bought got put in my spare tire. I think TPMS is great. I'm not very good about checking tire pressure, and TPMS is far more attentive. I should really try setting the warning pressure as close to operating pressure as would work without false triggers.
