I have decided to go back to school so the wife and I want to get rid of our car payment. We want to sell the Prius to get money back in our savings for school, but I don't know what it would be worth at this point.
It is an 05 model with 30k miles. Just cloth interior and no extras other than tinted windows.
someone let me know a decent starting price?

You can check out http://www.nadaguides.com/ or http://www.edmunds.com for car values in your area through their used car links. Anoter poster is selling their '05 with 44K for $16,500 but he is in NY. Price could change for your region.

    Good luck selling!

so hoping for $19500 would be crazy huh...
www.kbb.com said suggested retail was $21000 but that is silly bc the car was $22,700 new. it can't hold its resale that good. the trade in at kbb was like $16,800 or so... that is too low for us, we better just keep it for that i guess.

Don't forget Kelley Blue Book. It depends on which features you have on your particular Prius. 30k is pretty low mileage too.

    Depends on where you live.

Where I live $19,500 is reasonable for a private party sale.

I have HOV stickers that would be a bonus and increase the value.

I must say the Prius really holds it's value. I wouldn't think that 2 years after I bought it it would still be worth this much.

Try using Craig's list for your area (free)....ask for the higher end of the price, and see what calls you will get.
Always write OBO, no one but you will know the truth. I do think that Prius does keep its resale value, its a good investment and has great mpg's. Good luck.
